Midwest Uke Camp
June 2016 at Olivet College
Organized by Ben Hassenger and Stan Werbin and sponsored by Elderly Instruments
Starting at mid-day on Friday and going through noon on Sunday, the weekend included 8 workshops in five tracks, two concerts, open mic, group strums and lots of opportunities for interaction with other ukulele players over food, snacks and other times. And it included six meals and a bed to sleep in!
Final concert set with all of the instructors on stage. From left to right – Paul Hemmings, Sarah Maisel, Kimo Hussey, Craig Chee, Rachel Davis, Andy Wilson, Lil’ Rev, Stan Werbin, Brian Hefferan, Ben Hassenger, Jim Beloff, Gerald Ross, Frank Youngman, and Steve Szilagy.
During the final concert, Paul and Gerald needed a bit of bass to provide some bottom. They got it! Steve Szilagy, Frank Youngman, and Dominic John Davis, with Andy on the Bass Harmonica!
Jim Beloff with the Guinness Book of World Record verified largest ukulele. At over 13 feet, it is a bit on the large size!
